Yes, I am a new Blackberry user, novice. I am running XP Professional on my laptop, Blackberry Desktop Manager Version 4.6.0.12 May 2008. I can't figure out how to prevent it from starting whenever I start my laptop. I don't use that often, it's rather slow, opening at the top, and it just slows me down. How can I set it so that it opens only when I say on it to open it?
When the Desktop Manager opens, there's a small demon resident who charge too much upward: it's called 'Device Manager.' You can find it in the task bar, close to the Windows clock.
Right click on it, it will call the demon. In the window, somewhere on the background, you can uncheck the option 'load at startup'.
If this does not work, you can open the 'add/remove applications' on the control panel of Windows. Here, you can change the Desktop Manager installation do not load at startup.

Just select it and click the minus sing above to get rid of it.
EDIT: Apparently someone with the same issue found a workaround. Creating a new user an pointing it to the same home directory allowed him to delete the login item.
To do so just go create a New User, and Right Clicking on it, select Advance Options. A new window will prompt, were you'll be able to change your Home Directory. Here you can find some more detailed information.
I'll try to find a not so tricky way, though.
